Photographs by David Coulson, used with full permission, from his book with Alec Campbell “African Rock Art,” inspired quilts which capture something of the essence of these special, ancient, and unique works of art. “Les Animaux” was commissioned by a private client; the other two pieces were donated to the Trust for African Rock Art.
NOTICE: David Coulson has informed me that “Le Grand Dieu” and “Les Girafes” were involved in an automobile accident somewhere along the road between Nairobi, Kenya and Arusha, Tanzania. In the ensuing confusion, both quilts went missing. I have posted these two works of art on Maria Elkins’ Lost Quilts Come Home website. Please go there to report any information you may have about either of these beautiful art quilts.
