Heading for Houston!

My IQF teaching schedule includes Math for Quilters and Design Lines on Monday, Darned Quilts on Tuesday, a demonstration of Fusible Patterns for Art Quilts and Fuss Free Binding on Wednesday, Wholly New Wholecloth and a Spirit Works demonstration on Thursday, Goodbye to the Grid and Seamless Binding on Friday, another Spirit Works demonstration on Saturday, and Perfect Points with Inset Angle Piecing on Sunday. Packing Up for Quilt Safari

I leave for Canada on Tuesday for the Quilts of East Africa exhibition and festival at Cotton-by-Post in Ailsa Craig. From Canada, I will travel to Houston, Texas, for the International Quilt Festival during the last week of the month. I’m teaching a full schedule there, including such classes as Math for Quilters, Darned Quilts (only one day this time), Goodbye to the Grid (very successful in South Africa), Seamless Binding, Fuss Free Binding, (my two all-time favorite binding methods), and Wholly New Wholecloth, in addition to giving demonstrations on Fusible Patterns for Art Quilts and Spirit Works painted quilts. Visit to Samatian Island, Lake Baringo

On Saturday, we were invited for lunch at Samatian Island in Lake Baringo. Samatian Island is owned and operated by Ross and Caro Withey, who also manage Roberts Camp on the mainland. An isolated up-market tented camp, picturesque and very private, Samatian is a self or arranged catering hideaway for anyone who simply wants to get away from it all. With accommodations for up to 10 or so (depending on number of children), a small swimming pool set against the lake backdrop, facilities for safaris to the other islands as well as the mainland on both sides of the lake, breakfasts at the hot springs, water sports and other wonderful options, Samatian Island is a choice location for a private family holiday.
